Negro League Night, August 14, DBAP

Bulls Press Release:

[Bulls to play in] Negro League-style uniforms to pay tribute to the legacy of Durham's local Negro League stars. Former Negro League players will be on hand for the game, and will sign autographs for fans on the concourse.

I take the times I've had the opportunity to shake the hands of these fine gentlemen as some of my best moments as a baseball fan. Central North Carolina has quite a tradition of Negro League ball and a surprising number of men who played are still with us.

If you have a child or grandchild interested the game, you owe it to them to them to take advantage of this opportunity to meet these men. And to reflect on both the positive and the uncomfortable legacy they represent.
